Milestones

Sophia is 3 months old now and she has successfully hit some milestones!

She's recognizes me and Anthony and gives us a big smile when she sees us:She's reaching for her toys:And she's lifting that noggin when you put her on her tummy:

Last night, we were sitting on the floor in the living room playing (refer to the last two pictures) and she started to roll over on her side! I'm going to keep putting her on her tummy this week and see if she manages to do it. You can see the determination in her face in the above picture, so I'm sure it's not going to be long until she's rolling over. She also loves to practice standing. I'll have to try and snap a few pictures of that this week to share.

Oh, and an update on the sleeping. We have successfully broken the habit of me holding her until she falls asleep! Wooohooo!! I now hold her until she gets heavy-eyed, then I put her in her crib. I usually have to stand there for a little while, holding the pacifier in her mouth, but usually after about 15 - 20 minutes, she falls asleep. I know it's not perfect yet, but it's progress and I'll take whatever I can get! Like I've said before, I must be doing SOMETHING right -- my 3 month old sleeps 13 hours straight every night! ;)

  1. I LOVE the determination in that last photo!!! But holy cow - she looks like you...and Anthony!!! She is gorgeous and I love those big eyes! Congrats on the sleep thing - isn't it a huge relief...and they are SO precious when they sleep!!

  2. Yeah, it was nice while it lasted, unfortunately it didn't last long. The past several nights, we've had to let her cry herself to sleep. The first night it lasted about an hour, the next night about 30 minutes and last night it lasted about 10 minutes, but then she woke up a half hour later and cried for about 30 minutes. A friend of mine went through the same thing with her son at 3 months and said it lasted a little less than a week. Ugh. I'm hoping she gets through it sooner than that b/c it breaks my heart to hear her crying. I think she's starting to teeth a little too, so I'm sure that's probably not helping. I swear, as soon as we get over one hump, there's another one to cross.

I think she looks like me more now than she did. You can definitely see Anthony in her though. I read something where it's an evolutionary trait for the babies to closely resemble the fathers in the first few months so that the fathers won't abandon them. Don't know if it's true, but it makes sense.

  3. Allie still goes through the same thing - she falls asleep on her own crying...then wakes up about 30 minutes later screaming and won't stop...she usually goes on for about 20-30 minutes then I have to go in and pick her up...work in progress, but the crying usually wears her out so as soon as we put her down again, she's down for the count!
